Vera Productions was set up in 1994. Its brief was simple; to make challenging, innovative TV Programmes that would be fun to make and fun to watch.

Since then the company has made around thirty TV Shows a year that fulfil that brief in different ways and have picked up critical reviews and awards; four BAFTAS, British Comedy Awards, RTS awards, Broadcasting Press Guilds, Writers Guild and South Bank Show gongs.

Vera has recently produced the third series of the critically acclaimed ‘Getting On’ for BBC4 starring Jo Brand, Vicki Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan, and directed by Sue Tully. It’s a pitch-black comedy series set in backwater ward of a NHS hospital.

Alongside the long running TV Series ‘Bremner Bird and Fortune’, the company has produced three series of ‘Don’t Watch That Watch This’ for BBC4, four series of ‘Alistair McGowan’s Big Impression’ for BBC1, six series of ‘Mark Thomas Product’ for C4 and a variety of one-offs. In addition to numerous ‘Dispatches’ for Channel 4 including the recent ‘MPs: Are They Still At It?’ and award winning ‘How to Buy A Football Club’, Vera has produced several pieces for Channel 4 news and created ‘Big Trouble in Thailand’ for Bravo.

A fully independent production company and led by the talent and shows it makes, its original remit stands as true to today as it was when the company was established 16 years ago.
